Name: Jesper Grønkjær
Born: Nuuk, Denmark
Nationality: Denmark
Position: Midfielder Right/Left
DOB: 12/7/1977
Current Club: Atletico Madrid
A wing player on both sides, Jesper Grønkjær is one of Denmark's best midfielders going around.
When he moved to Ajax Amsterdam from Aalborg BK, in a span of two seasons, he impressed both fans and coaches with his consistency and strike rate, forming well with the likes of Shota Arvaladze. In Ajax, he won the Dutch Cup with Ajax.
Chelsea bought him for €12.3m in December 2000, where he had nagging injuries early on. After fully recovering, his form came back and helped Chelsea reach the Champions League.
In 2004, the hiring of manager Mourinho has revamped the squad, which resulted in many Chelsea players falling out of favour, including Jesper Grønkjær, and he quickly signed with Birmingham City on an undisclosed transfer fee.
Grønkjær had an inconsistent spell with Birmingham, either being the player who turned the match in favour for Birmingham, or being a completely useless figure on the field. His inconsistency left Grønkjær in manager Steve Bruce's uneeded books, and was told that he could leave in the winter break, which he did, and joined Atletico Madrid for €2m.
