Klaas Jan Huntelaar, a Dutch striker began his career at PSV Eindhoven in 2001 where he made a total of a single appearance. He joined De Graafschap the next year and came on mostly as a substitute and was unable to secure any goals that season.

AGOVV Apeldoorn was his home the following season where he made an impressive team season debut which brought the attention of SC Heerenveen who kept him for one and a half seasons before Ajax Amsterdam muscled their way in for the striker for €9m. When Ajax bought him, Huntelaar had scored 16 goals in 14 games in the 2005 season.
