Angelos Charisteas, a Greek striker who uses his height effectively to score goals when they count.

He was part of the Euro 2004 squad and became eventual surprise winners.

Though he was in form during the Greek campaign in the European Championships, and he was part of a league winning team with Werder Bremen, Charisteas was continued to be used as a substitute in the 2004/05 campaign. The lack of minutes brought interest from Ajax's manager, Ronald Koeman, who did not have a striker to replace the already departed Zlatan Ibrahimovic; where he finally joined on Christmas eve.

Not able to perform to his expected levels, Ajax had to make an expensive, but worthwhile move, in obtaining Huntelaar from Heerenveen. In the process, Charisteas was down the pecking order again and was eventually transferred to Feyenoord right before the 06/07 season began.
