Words cannot describe what Pele did with the ball. In 1371 games, Pele scored 1281 goals and won 60 titles, including 3 world cups and 2 intercontinental cups. Pele enchanted an entire world with his talent and magic, making wars stop and establishing soccer in other countries. When Pele walked on the field, the opposing team's fans did not care if their team lost. They knew that they were about to see one of the greatest spectacles on earth, provided by the boy from Tres Coracoes. His moves will go down in history, just as his magical goals and the goals that did not happen, but should have happened. Pele has reached a stage that no player will ever come close to. He is the best thing that the soccer gods could give us. the ball on his feet is the grace given by God that immortalizes his actions on the field. Edson Arantes do Nascimento, also known as Pele, is eternal.
- Thiago Vendramel nominating Pele into Legends
It's hard to think of another player on the same level as Pele, or the name Pele, the Brazilian who took his country and the world by storm as a teenager and continued to show everyone that he truly was a legend.
Now there are two of the greatest.
- Muhammed Ali
Starting his career at Santos in 1956, Pele was only 15, and played in his first international match only ten months later.
In 1958, Pelé became the youngest ever World Cup winner in Sweden at 17. He played in two more Brazilian World Cup-winning teams, in 1962 and 1970. The 1970 team, featuring famous players like Rivelino, Jairzinho, and Tostão, is considered one of the greatest selections ever to compete in a World Cup. He missed most of the 1962 and 1966 World Cups due to injuries sustained in the early stages of the tournament, but it did not matter to Brazil if he was on the pitch or not, the name Pele was enough to guide his country to win the prestigious tournament.
He is the most complete player i ever saw.
- Franz Beckenbauer
486 matches and 504 goals later, Pele left his boyhood club for the New York Cosmos for a further three years.
He scored 72 goals internationally in 97 games and has a record of 92 hat-tricks in his entire career.
Scoring 1000 goals like pele is not that hard, but scoring one goal like pele did is.
- Carlos Drummond de Andrade
Pele is regarded as the greatest footballer, ever. His charismatic appeal to the masses and his involvement for the game, even today, is rarely replicated by other legends of the game.
